Welcome! This is an exciting time to study Communication and Development at Ohio University. In 2007, Communication and Development Studies program celebrated its twentieth year of providing students with a quality education and training to prepare them to be strong and innovative workers in the field. This was a particularly significant event for many of the faculty, staff and students that have watched the program evolve into what it is now: a program that has tripled in size during its first two decades and whose curriculum has been greatly strengthened and expanded to serve a variety of diverse approaches.
The Communication and Development Studies program is commited both to internationalism and to social change and development worldwide. The program has also come to be seen as a major asset for its academic contributions to the university and for the diversity that it brings to the greater Athens community.
We want to maintain our contact with students, faculty, alumni and the communication and development community. Therefore we will continue to share updates about the program through our regular outreach materials and through the director's comments. We also encourage you to contact us and share information that you feel may be of benefit to those of us engaged in the exciting field of communication for development and social change.
Ohio University faculty and staff are dedicated to providing a quality education while continuing to explore new knowledge, applications, and opportunities to strengthen and improve the rigor of the program. We are committed to training new cadres of professionals to learn the skills necessary to effectively use communication for social change. Thus, it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our program and to our unique community.
Warmest Regards,
Dr. Rafael Obregon, Director
